SITTING IN…

The club provides the perfect setting and equipment for getting together with friends and other members to play together. And unlike the sessions in your basement or garage, there’s no curfew, no complicated setup, and nothing to get in the way of your pure enjoyment. Club staff will pre-set your session, with your favorite gear, set up and tune your instruments, and even pour the wine.

And anytime the mood strikes, we can arrange a private personal playing experience that matches a member’s tastes and ability.

LAYING IT DOWN…

At the heart of our facility is a well-equipped, comfortably furnished, state of the art recording studio. In addition to a dramatic recording space with soaring ceilings and extraordinary acoustics, members have access to:

  • 96 tracks of ProTools HD Accel, Digidesign’s flagship digital audio workstation
  • Hundreds of cutting-edge plug-ins, including Waves, United Audio, T.C., and others
  • Production software such as Digital Performer, Logic Pro, Ableton Live, and others.
  • A comprehensive selection of electronic keyboards, software synthesizers and samplers, and an enormous collection of sound libraries including classic synths, orchestral sounds, ethnic collections, and more.
  • Yamaha’s DM2000 96-track digital recording console and DAW control surface
  • An in-depth microphone collection including vintage classics from Neumann, RCA, AKG, and Sennheiser, as well as modern microphones from Shure,
  • Josephson, Royer, B.L.U.E., and many more
  • Classic analogue signal processing gear including U.R.E.I., Manley, Avalon, Cranesong, DBX, Lexicon, and more.
  • HEAR Audio personal monitoring systems offering individualized monitor mixes for up to 12 musicians.

In addition to providing professional-level recording, the club’s recording facilities also provide members an opportunity to master the art of audio engineering and record production in a supportive and enthusiastic environment. We schedule studio workshops on a regular basis to help members better understand the technical aspects of the recording arts as well as the creative potential of the club’s technology. Workshops for those with little or no experience are augmented by master classes with by legendary, multi grammy-award winning engineers and producers, offering rare access to exalted levels of the music industry.

THE MORE YOU KNOW…

It’s rewarding to gain mastery and increase the ease with which we’re able to play our instruments, compose songs and melodies, and create recordings. So education plays a large part in the life of the club. There’s a broad range of offerings to provide members with the knowledge to make their musical lives richer and more creative:

  • Private study with artistic associates
  • Club collections of instructional materials, including:
    • Thousands of printed publications
    • An enormous collection of video lessons
    • Computer-based technical and theory instructional systems
  • Master classes with legendary guest studio musicians
  • Songwriting workshops with industry giants
  • A huge musical archive: thousands of CDs, LPs, 45s, 78s, MP3s, in virtually every genre and style, from every era of recorded music. Our collection can help round out your collection- and we can help transfer your old LPs to CD or put them on your iPod.

LETS PUT ON A SHOW…

There’s nothing more inspiring than the experience of great musical artistry, and the club’s unique access will allow for private performances for members and their guests. Instead of standing in crowded clubs or sitting at the back of the hall, we feature major talent at our sister facility, SPACE- a comfortable, intimate 200-seat performance venue. Recordings of club productions are archived exclusively for the enjoyment of our members. The caliber of artistry is high indeed- club producers have produced hundreds of performances by such artists as:

  • The Neville Brothers
  • Dr. John
  • Richard Thompson
  • Beausoleil
  • Lyle Lovett
  • Doc Watson

But the most important performances will are those by club members. Our primary commitment is to the creative lives of our members, and a crucial aspect of membership is the opportunity to perform for friends, family, and club members. These members’ performances are recorded and archived as well.
